Who are the Mid City Artists?
They are a diverse and talented group of professional artists who have come together for the purpose of promoting their art and the Dupont/Logan neighborhoods of Washington DC that they call home.

Twice each year, the private studios of select member artists are open for visitors. Discover painting, photography, sculpture, neon, mixed media, prints and much more.

Enjoy a day touring with friends and observing the artistic process. Explore how artists have carved out their working spaces and build your collection form the connections that you make with these artists.

Abandoned Architecture: Borderstan Profile

Local DC blog Borderstan posted a thoughtful profile on my photographs of abandoned architecture. They've offered great coverage of artists in the mid city area in recent weeks, showcasing the diversity of artists in the neighborhood.

The Neighborhood Network

Along with a dozen Mid City Artists, I'll be participating in the Social Network in the Neighborhood exhibit at the new DC Loft Gallery. I have three prints in the show from the Icon in Miami and Algarrobico in Almeria, Spain. Both are newly-constructed luxury real estate developments that have been left uninhabited (or uninhabitable) amid the real estate crisis. Unfortunately, I'll miss the opening reception, but there are plans for an artist talk evening in December. The new space is near 14th and U streets, above Domino's Pizza at 1926B 14th Street.

Mid City Artists Open Studios

The Mid City Artists Spring Open Studios is going on this weekend May 16 and 17! I'll be open on Sunday only from 12-5. Drop by and see a new series of photographs I'm currently working on.

A map of artists studios can be downloaded from the MCA website.

Many artist studios within walking distance of the Dupont/Logan Circles will be open for visitors with over 20 artists exhibiting. This is a unique opportunity to see some of DC’s most exciting artists in their ‘home environments.’ Check out the burgeoning local art scene that is finding its focus in the dynamic Mid City neighborhoods, and visit some of the supporting Galleries and art related businesses that have recently opened – following the artists into this upscale urban environment.

Artists participating this weekend include Sondra N. Arkin, Chuck Baxter, Tamja Bos, Robert Cole, Susan Cole, Thomas Drymon, Gary Fisher, Glenn Fry, Charlie Gaynor, Rod Glover, Betsy Karasik, Regina M. Miele, Lucinda F. Murphy, Betto Ortiz, Mark Parascandola, Brian Petro, Ronald Riley, Peter Alexander Romero, Nicolas F. Shi, John Talkington, Anita Walsh, Robert Weiner, Colin Winterbottom.
